For the first time, the Village of Nyack will employe several part-time Constables to patrol the downtown and waterfront areas of the Village. The Constables are not police officers, but will work closely with the Orangetown Police Department to help keep the streets orderly and safe.
The Constables will not b e police officers, and will not be armed, but will be charged with enforcing Village Code ordinances involving noise, littering, public drinking, and other quality-of-life offenses. Also, they will have a direct line to the local Orangetown Police Department to ensure immediate response to more serious issues.
The Village will be hiring at least two part-time Constables, so that we can ensure coverage throughout the heavy-traffic weekends. We will be putting out a full job description and links for applying for the position, but if you'd like to get on our mailing list, click on the link below.
